At The Dapper pup we want to give back to so we will be donating $1 from every purchase to defence community dog program. The program adopts dogs from local shelters, then they are trained by inmates at the Bathurst correctional center and are then handed over to eligible veterans suffering from PTSD.
The Defence Community dog program gives abandoned dogs a second chance at a new life, inmates that genuinely want to turn their life around the opportunity to be able to better themselves and veterans, a specially trained companion that can aid them physically and mentally in dealing with the effects of PTSD.
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) occurs after a person has gone through a life-threatening event. From 2001 to 2016, there were 373 suicides in serving, ex serving and reserve Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel. Our aim is to pay for a full sponsor of 1 dog from the program. The cost to put one dog through all the necessary training is approximately $7500.If one dog can save one life, that’s a start and we hope for bigger and better things in the years to come.
