The Dapper Pup was founded by Myself (Emily) and Jesse after we were medical retired from the Australian Army. Having done volunteer work with the Sydney dogs and cat shelter through the Army we were eager to get a puppy of our own. Just before my 3rd hip surgery we got Ollie, a tiny toy ruby cavoodle from a beautiful local breeder.
Ollie was so tiny he couldn’t fit into any of the dog accessories from the store, so we decided to start making Ollie whatever he needed. Having a dog has helped us tremendously through our transition back to civilian life and helped us deal with the physical and mental scars left behind from service.
We have chosen to support the defence community dog program. The program adopts dogs from local shelters, then they are trained by inmates at the Bathurst correctional centre and are then handed over to eligible veterans suffering from PTSD.
